Festival of the Guitar Comes to Barcelona
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona over the coming months will be able to enjoy a feast of musical entertainment at the Festival of the Guitar.
The festival will include a total of 24 concerts, the Barcelona City Council announced.
Uruguayan singer Jorge Drexler will get proceedings underway on April 3rd and gigs will be held regularly throughout the Catalan capital until June 7th.
Some of the city's major venues will be involved in the festival, including the Palau de la Musica, the Hospitalet Teatre Joventut and the Sant Cugat Teatre-Auditorium.
One of the highlights of the event will be a performance by Joe Satriani on May 6th, before Josep and Patrick Henriquez, on acoustic and electric guitar, make their debuts on May 31st.
Sixties rocker Al Kooper will perform on May 30th, as will Dickey Betts, former member of the Allman Brothers, on May 12th.
The festival will also serve as a platform for up and coming talents, with promising guitarists from music schools around Barcelona included in the programme.
