Get Festive in Barcelona

Get festive in Barcelona Anybody looking for a picturesque and cultural location in which to get into the festive spirit this December should book a cheap hotel in Barcelona and head to the Fira de Santa Llucia.

Dating all the way back to 1786, this event sees over 300 stalls selling all manner of Christmassy goods, from mistletoe and biscuits to Christmas trees.

There is also a life-size nativity scene in Barcelona's Placa Sant Jaume, musical parades and themed exhibitions.

As if it wasn't difficult enough to keep kids calm during the festive period, this festival also includes a giant effigy that produces presents when beaten with a stick.

The character represented is a popular Catalan mythological figure related to Christmas.

Fira de Santa Llucia is held outside Barcelona Cathedral, in the heart of the city's Barri Gotic, or gothic quarter.
