High As A Kite
Visitors to Fuerteventura will always be able to have fun in the sun, but from July 31st to August 4th 2007 the Canary Island will offer a spectacular show as the latest leg of the PKRA Kiteboarding Grand Prix tour takes place at Sotovento.
The sport is a strange combination of paragliding and surfing, with competitors riding waves and flying over jumps using the power of wind and waves.
According to Kiteworld Tour, the prize money on offer at the event stands at €65,000 (£43,745).
Spectators will be able to see this spectacular sport while watching from the beach, which is an added attraction.
Fuerteventura offers a great wealth of accommodation for visitors, including cheap hotels, with a year-round warm climate making it a great place to lie on the sand, splash in the waves, enjoy the food and drink or even have a go at learning to Kiteboard.
