Holidaymakers Flock to Cheap Hotels in Majorca
Financial difficulties may be forcing many Brits to tighten their belts but it is not stopping many heading for the bustling city of Magaluf.
The Majorca based hub, famous for its night spots and party vibe, is said to have continued to be a popular destination.
A large number of cheap hotels in Majorca along with low-cost flights have seen the amount of people booking holidays in Magaluf soar.
Search Travel Online said that last year more than half a million people headed to the city and stayed in both luxury and cheap hotels.
The firm's product manager Daniel Eyre said that "many people in the travel industry are predicting numbers to be even greater in 2008, with the majority of Magaluf holidaymakers in the 18-30 demographic".
He added: "They come for brilliant nightlife, gorgeous sandy beaches and excellent weather, as well as bargain flights and cheap accommodation.
"Magaluf has all these in spades, and they're benefits which keep many Spanish holiday resorts buzzing, even during a credit crunch."
