Iranian Icon Comes to Spain
The curator of Iran's first photography museum will be displaying his own work in the city of Barcelona all through November.
Bahman Jalali is credited with single-handedly introducing the medium of photography to Iran.
His work, which often features the use of daring techniques to lend an unusual effect to portrait pictures, was instrumental in making photography an art in the country and bringing it to the attention of the general public.
From September 28th to December 9th he will be recognised for the inspiration that he has given to emerging Iranian photographers with an exposition at the Fundacio Antoni Tapies.
The show will include a series of Jalali's photomontages from his home country's photographic archives.
Barcelona's Fundacio Antoni Tapies is a modern and contemporary art museum created in 1984 by the Catalan artist Antoni Tapies.
It is situated on Carrer D'Arago, near the heart of the city and in close proximity to a choice of cheap hotels.
