Jazz Comes to Majorca
Music fans staying in cheap hotels in Majorca this year will be able to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of jazz.
Between March and December 2008, Palma de Majorca will host the Jazz Voyeur Festival, which will see gigs being played at venues throughout the city.
From Bellver Castle to the Patio de la Misericordia, there will be a range of locations alive with the sounds of jazz that visitors will be likely to stumble across as they explore the city of Palma.
The festival launched in 2004 and since then has hosted artists including Lee Konitz, Charlie Haden, McCoy Tyner and Carla Bley.
In 2007, visitors to the event were treated to performances by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and the San Francisco Jazz Collective among others.
Majorca is the largest member of the Balearic Islands archipelago and of Spain's most popular tourist locations.
Two of its main attractions are Palma Cathedral, which was completed in 1601, and Bellver Castle, which was used as a military prison during the 18th and 19th centuries.
