Jerez to Horses
Lovers of all things equestrian should feel at home in the Andalusian town on Jerez, where the horse is a major symbol of the culture and history of the locality ever since the arrival of the Carthusian horse in Jerez in the 15th century.
The Jerez horse fair is held from May 6th to the 13th in the Gonzales Hontoria Park, with the best horses in the region competing in various equestrian disciplines such as dressage and coach-driving.
In addition to the horses, the festival has plenty of partying, with traditional flamenco dancing and plenty of wine drinking.
Jerez is famous not only for its horses but its sherry, with plenty of chances to visit a winery or brandy distillery, while the Mystery of Jerez Museum and the Old Sherry Labels Museum provide a historic perspective on these traditions.
