Jerez to the Harvest
With summer yet to arrive, it may seem early to book for an event heralding the onset of autumn, but with all the finest features of the town on display, its well worth booking into one of the many cheap hotels in Jerez before they all fill up.
The Festival del Otono sees the things Jerez is famous for - horses, flamenco and, above all else, sherry - in all their finery in September 2007 (date to be confirmed).
First and foremost, this is a celebration of the grape harvest from which the sherry comes, so visitors should be up for a tipple or ten, with lots of entertainment being provided by the flamenco dancers, Jerez being the home of this as well.
Naturally, there is plenty of art, music, street partying and processions.
Apart from the festival, Jerez offers a warm climate and easy connections to the Atlantic coast.
The historic city of Cadiz is also close by.
