John Baldessari Exhibition to Open in Barcelona
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona next year will be able to visit a new exhibition dedicated to conceptual artist John Baldessari.
The show will open at the city's Museum of Contemporary Art on February 11th and run until April 25th.
More than 130 works will feature in the show, making it the biggest retrospective ever to be dedicated to Baldessari in Spain.
The exhibition is arranged in chronological order and surveys various periods and developments in the artist's career, including the episode in 1970 known as the Cremation Project, when he burnt everything he had created prior to 1966.
Through photography, painting, text, video and other media, Baldessari's work explores the ideas behind artistic conventions and questions traditional notions related to art.
At this year's Venice Biennale, Baldessari was awarded the Golden Lion.
People visiting Barcelona next year will also be able to see an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art showcasing the work of Canadian artist Rodney Graham.
