Julio Ubina on Show in Barcelona
Cantabrian photographer Julio Ubina will be the subject of an exhibition in Barcelona this year.
Photography enthusiasts staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona will be able to explore the life and work of Ubina at the Palau Robert until May 25th.
Ubina moved to the Catalan capital at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
He was an important figure in the development of cooperative photography, working with Oriol Maspons and producing a number of war reports, including a dramatic study of conflict in the Congo.
Ubino also worked in mainstream photography, producing sequences for television adverts and, near the end of his life, releasing images of people in motion, which came to be known as spectres.
Holidaymakers in Barcelona can see the artist's work for themselves at the Palau Robert on Passeig Gracia in the city's Eixample district.
