Madrid Museum Presents Francis Bacon

Madrid museum presents Francis Bacon Madrid's Museo Nacional del Prado will soon launch an exhibition featuring the work of Francis Bacon, one of the most influential and important artists of the 20th century.

The display, which will run from February 3rd until April 19th, has been arranged to mark the centenary of the painter's birth.

Madrid is a fitting location for the exhibition, as it was the location of the final stage of Bacon's career and the city in which he died in 1992.

The artist was a regular visitor to the Museo del Prado and was heavily influenced by Spanish artists such as Picasso, Goya and Velazquez, with his body of work including the famous Study after Velazquez's Portrait of Pope Innocent X.

People staying in cheap hotels in Madrid will be taken on a thorough exploration of Bacon's work at the exhibition, looking at the interesting and sometimes disturbing themes of his oeuvre.

Until April 12th, the Museo del Prado will present Among Gods and Men, a display of classical sculptures borrowed from the Albertinum in Dresden.
