Madrid to Host Photography Festival
Madrid is gearing up to host the annual PhotoEspana International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, with as many as half a million art lovers expected to flock to the city for the event.
Due to take place in the Spanish capital between June 3rd and July 26th, the festival, which is now in its 12th year, is likely to lead to a rise in demand for cheap hotels in Madrid.
As with previous years, 'PHE09' will take place across dozens of venues across the historic city, with this year's event to take on the theme of 'The Everyday'.
Alongside straightforward exhibitions of the best contemporary works, the festival will include a series of events allowing visitors to gain an appreciation of the latest innovations and technology in the field, while workshops will also be held for professionals and those working in the educational sector.
Among the big-name photographers due to exhibit at the festival are Gerhard Richter, Ugo Mulas and Annie Liebovitz.
Aside from the photography festival, the city remains a top destination for culture lovers, with the 'golden triangle' of museums and the wealth of cheap hotels in Madrid helping to attract millions of visitors a year.
