While the Catalonian capital is perhaps better-known for its architecture and its modern art galleries, it is also home to one of Europe's finest Egyptology museums.

The show, which runs until the end of May 2010, contains hundreds of priceless exhibits taken from the tombs of Mesoamerica, Central America and the Andes, all of which date from before the arrival of the Europeans.
As well as the objects themselves, the exhibition also focuses on the life and work of the artist Carmen Tortola Valencia, who was heavily-influenced by the funerary art of the Ancients.
