More Green Areas for Barcelona District

More green areas for Barcelona district A new park has been opened in the Eixample district of Barcelona as the council pursues an initiative to increase the amount of green space in the area for the enjoyment of residents and visitors staying in hotels in Barcelona.

With the opening of the new Maria Matilde Almendros gardens, there are now 37 inner courts in the Eixample district spanning an area of 81,000 square metres, the Barcelona City Council announced.

There are seven inner courts in the Sant Antoni neighbourhood alone, covering a total of 8,035 square metres.

The city council plans to bring the total number of open green spaces in the Eixample area to 50 before its initiative comes to an end.

Among the other spaces that have been earmarked for green development is the inner court of the old Bayer factory.

This structure is in the neighbourhood of the Sagrada Familia, the holy temple designed by architect Antoni Gaudi, whose distinctive work can be seen throughout Barcelona.

The Eixample is one of the many districts that comprise the Catalonian city and is a popular option for people looking for cheap hotels in Barcelona owing to its blend of Spanish authenticity and proximity to central areas such as La Rambla.
