Peruse Post-war Art in Barcelona
Barcelona will be hosting a celebration of one of modern art's most exciting periods this autumn in a colourfully-titled exhibition.
Be-Bomb: The Transatlantic War of Images and all that Jazz 1946-1956 will be held at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Macba) between October 5th and January 7th next year.
The main focus of the show will be the aesthetic climate of the post-war period and the shifting of modern art's foundations from Paris to New York.
Curated by French historian Serge Guilbaut, the exhibition will compare and contrast some works of art produced in France and the USA in the period and consider the factors that made them so culturally important.
Organised in strict chronological order, the exposition will feature the work of numerous world famous artists, including Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet, Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.
The exhibits will be analysed in context of their place in history and the issues faced by society at that time.
