Sales Underway in Barcelona
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona over the coming months will be able to take advantage of sizeable discounts at some of the city's stores following the launch of the winter sales.
The promotional period officially began on January 7th and will continue until March 6th.
According to the city council, retailers are planning major discounts in an attempt to make up for recent reductions in consumer spending caused by the economic crisis.
Many stores are expected to cut their prices by between 40 and 50 per cent, while some of the larger outlets could offer reductions of up to 70 per cent.
Average expenditure among people visiting Barcelona's winter sales this year is expected to be around €100 (£89) per person.
As well as bagging some bargains, people visiting the city over the coming months will be able to absorb some culture at exhibitions such as Guests of Honour, which was launched recently to mark the 75th anniversary of the Catalan National Art Museum.
