Some Good Knights out for Chess Fans

Some good knights out for chess fans Chess is an interesting game - a mystery to those untrained in its rules and tactics but adored by those for whom it has become a part of everyday life.

Devotees to this historic game who are looking forward to a stay in a hotel in Spain in January may consider making a trip over the border to Gibraltar to check out the 2008 Gibtelecom Chess Festival.

The sixth edition of this event will be held from January 22nd to 31st at the Caleta Hotel in Gibraltar.

In previous years, players whose names will be familiar to chess fans, such as Alexei Shirov, Michael Adams and Nigel Short, have pitted their wits against each other in the masters section of the festival.

World championship contender Alexander Grischuk and top Chinese players Wang Yue and Bu Xiangzhi will be taking their pieces to the board in 2008.

People staying in cheap hotels in Spain could have their trips to this event made much easier in the new year as the organisers are considering offering a bus service from Malaga airport in southern Spain to Gibraltar.

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located near the southernmost tip of the Iberian peninsula.
