Those heading to Barcelona at the end of May will be going at a good time if they love their music, as the Primavera Sound Festival, where a large cast of live acts performs at the Parc Del Forum on the seafront, an area of rejuvenated dockland.
Running for three days from May 31st to June 2nd, the event features acts such as Billy Bragg, Blonde Redhead, Death Vessel, Smashing Pumpkins and DJ Yoda.
Tickets covering all three days of the event cost €105 (£71.50) according to organisers.
Apart from the music, visitors to Barcelona have a wealth of things to see and do.
There are beaches and Mediterranean sunshine, striking modernist architecture by Gaudi, a wealth of street entertainment and cafes by the long boulevard of Las Ramblas and the FC Barcelona museum at the huge Camp Nou Stadium, tracing the history of a club famous botjh for football and its place in Catalan culture.
Barcelona has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
