Spain to Host Cycling Tour
Although the British summer looks like it may have ended, many tourists will be flying out to Spain this August to soak up some sunshine.
Cycling enthusiast may wish to use this opportunity to catch La Vuelta Ciclista de Espana, the world-famous cycle race through the country.
Much like its more well-known relative, the Tour de France, the race is a gruelling marathon, with the world's best athletes competing over 3,000 kilometres.
One of the largest events in the European cycling calendar, the Tour of Spain is split into 21 stages, 11 flat stages, seven mountain stages, two individual time trial stages and one team time trial stage.
Beginning in Granada, in southern Spain, the course sweeps north-east, taking in Barcelona, before travelling west across the northern border, finally wending its exhausted way into Madrid.
Fans of the sport can choose any of Spain's cities along the route to enjoy the action, staying in one of the many cheap hotels available.
