The 100 Shows of Barcelona
Barcelona's ornate Palau de la Musica Catalana is hosting a series of 100 concerts between September this year and June 2008.
Those with a cheap hotel booking in the Catalan city in the coming months will be able to catch some of the best shows that the series has to offer.
On October 25th the auditorium will be filled with the sounds of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, which will be playing works by Mozart and Mendelssohn, including the latter's third, or 'Scottish', symphony.
Italian opera singer Cecilia Bartoli will entertain the crowds on November 4th before the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra gives its interpretation of Sibelius and Stucky on November 12th.
One of the highlights for British visitors in Barcelona then comes on November 14th when the BBC Philharmonic fills the sumptuous surrounds of the Palau de la Musica with the compositions of Britten, Dvorak and Strauss.
The city's top classical music venue will host its 100-concert series until June next year, during which time the Berlin Chamber Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will play and opera singers Josep Carreras and Ainhoa Arteta will perform.
