The Surrealist Universe of Barcelona
Visitors to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona will find themselves transported into another universe by one of the museum's upcoming exhibitions.
Yves Tanguy: The Surrealist Universe brings to Barcelona nearly 200 pieces of work by the French painter.
The creations on show will form an exhaustive exploration of the various elements that constitute Tanguy's artistic career.
Born in 1900, the Frenchman was one of the major figures in surrealist art and a colleague of Andre Breton, the man who founded the movement and wrote the manifesto that was its foundation.
As well as Tanguy's paintings, the MNAC exhibition will include a selection of drawings, washes and prints and a selection of books and magazines from the time with illustrations and photographs by the artist.
This show is not the only venture into the world of surrealism that people staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona can enjoy this autumn, as the MNAC is hosting another exposition called the World of the Catalan Object in the Light of Surrealism.
Both exhibitions run from October 26th to January 13th next year.
