Valencia Look to Improve on Last Year's Achievements

Valencia look to improve on last year's achievements Football fans paying a visit to Valencia this year may be interested in going to see the local side as they attempt to improve on a disappointing 2007-08 season.

Valencia were way off the pace last year, eventually finishing in tenth place, with just one point separating them from the bottom half of the table.

They will play their first game at home against Mallorca on August 31st, before travelling to the south coast two weeks later to take on Almeria.

People staying in cheap hotels in Valencia can see the local side play Osasuna, the team that was just a point away from relegation last season, at the Mestalla on September 21st.

Valencia will be expecting to be nearer the top of the table this year, providing they can hold onto their star players.

Spanish striker David Villa became an attractive target for the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid this summer when he scored four goals at Euro 2008, and Valencia fans will be hoping that he is still playing his football at the Mestalla next season.
