Works of Wagner Come to Barcelona
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona in a couple of months' time will be able to introduce themselves to the majesty of the music of Wagner at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
A version of Wagner's Tannhauser will be performed at the opera house on five dates between March 19th and the end of the month, with a further eight performances in April.
Wilhelm Richard Wagner was a German composer and conductor who lived from 1813 to 1883 and is mainly known for his operas.
Among his most famous works are Tristan and Isolde and The Valkyrie, which was part of the Ring cycle.
Tannhauser is based on two Germanic legends and centres on the struggle between sacred and profane love, taking redemption through love as its main theme.
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona with an interest in the work of Wagner can catch the Valkyrie at the Gran Teatre del Liceu on May 28th and 31st, while Benjamin Britten's Death in Venice will also be showing in the month.
