World Press Photo Exhibition Launched in Barcelona
Photography enthusiasts staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona over the coming weeks will have the opportunity to see an important display in the city.
The World Press Photo international exhibition is being held in the Catalan capital for the fifth consecutive year.
It opened at the Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona (CCCB) on November 11th and will be on show for travellers to see until December 13th.
Some 5,500 photographers submitted more than 96,000 images to the World Press Photo award contest this year and the 199 winning images are on display at the CCCB.
One piece for visitors to look out for is the winning entry, a shot captured by Anthony Suau for Time magazine that seems to anticipate the impact of the global economic crisis.
Photographs representing all sorts of topics and concerns feature in the exhibition, ranging from images of daily life and sport to portraits, artistic pieces and depictions of conflict.
