Experience Vikingarannet in Stockholm
Winter holidaymakers planning a visit to Stockholm next year will be able to attend one of the city's most popular traditional events, Vikingarannet.
This attention-grabbing title describes an annual ice-skating race that takes place on Lake Malaren, between Uppsala and Stockholm.
Vikingarannet normally takes place in the middle of February, with its exact date set between one and two weeks in advance.
People staying in cheap hotels in Stockholm who are looking for slightly more sedate entertainment can head to the city's furniture fair, which will be held in Alvsjo from February 4th to 8th.
The fair is billed as the world's largest meeting place for Nordic design, selling furniture, lighting, design, textiles and all sorts of other items for home and office interiors.
While they are not watching ice-skating races or attending furniture fairs, visitors to Stockholm can head to attractions such as the city's Royal Palace or the Vasa Museum.
