Gothen Ball

Gothen ball As the festive season draws to its close, one last chance to celebrate is presented by Sweden's second city, Gothenburg, on Ephiphany, the last of the 12 days of Christmas.

The Gothenburg Opera House Epiphany concert and ball is held on January 5th, with an operatic concert followed by a ball on the main stage afterwards.

Buffet food and wine accompany the evening, as guests enjoy one last knees up before the bunting comes down.

While lovers of ballroom dancing should enjoy this event, the city of Gothenburg has much else to interest visitors.

The city has a slightly Dutch feel with a range of canals and a legacy of past immigration from the Netherlands, while the long seafaring history of this major port makes it's three themed museums, the Maritime Museum, Maritime Centre and East Indiaman, all good places to visit.

Gothenburg has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
