Hotel Prices Fall in Stockholm
The price of a stay in European hotels was considerably cheaper in the last quarter of 2005, according to latest research.
A survey by hotels.com, reveals that the average price paid by guests was €115 (£79) or over eight per cent less than 12 months previously, reports the German press association.
Figures show that the biggest drop in prices was in Stockholm, where hotel charges dropped 24 per cent to around €117 a night.
The lowest charges for hotel rooms were found in Budapest, where a room costs on average 84 €.
At the same time as charges fell in Europe, hotel costs in the US actually increased to an average of €153 a night.
Prices rose in some European cities such as Geneva, where prices grew by 14 per cent to the previous year to an average of €156 a night.
