Pucker Up

Pucker up Fans of ice hockey could be in for a great time if they find their way to Gothenburg for the week between April 15th and 21st, as this is when Sweden's second city hosts the IHF Oldtimers World Cup.

Scores of teams from all over the world will arrive in the city for the event, with organisers listing among those whose participation is confirmed plenty of Swedish clubs, a predictable Russian invasion and various teams from places that play ice hockey a lot, such as Canada and Finland, plus ones that don't, such as Abu Dhabi.

The one thing the teams will have in common is age, this being for the 35-plus bracket, but the players will be sure to carry on hurtling round the rink, whacking the puck at lethal speeds and getting involved in the odd punch-up.

Visitors staying in Gothenburg will find plenty of cheap hotels in this attractive port city.
