Stockholm Laps Up Beer and Whisky Festival

Fans of beer and whisky, of which there may be a few in the UK, are advised by organisers that the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival is the "the best two weekends in the year".

In a bid to promote understanding of Sweden's brewing industry, the festival allows visitors to sample over 1,000 different types of alcohol.

Some 25,000 revellers descend on the event each year, in a bid to learn more about the country's famous breweries and perhaps have a little fun along the way.

Quickly becoming one of the most important events on the European beer circuit, the festival will take place on two dates in September and October, which are yet to be decided.

Restaurants will also be serving a wide variety of foods at the festival, should visitors wish to soak up some of the alcohol, while on-stage entertainment should provide something to focus on.

Although Stockholm has various luxury options for accommodation, cheap hotels are available for travellers looking to visit the city.
