The festival, held since 1992, showcases an international range of comics that will fascinate enthusiasts and curious one-off visitors alike, with a strong emphasis on the comics of the German-speaking world.

As well as the comic art on display, there is a competition for aspiring artists with the future as its theme.

Set on the banks of Lake Lucerne, those who love their aquatic activities can enjoy messing about in boats or enjoying the ambience of the shoreline, while the town itself offers a wide range of fascinating architecture, including the 14th century Chapel Bridge and St Leodogar's cathedral, dating back to the 8th century but reconstructed in the 17th .

Set at the foot of Mount Pilatus, visitors have the options of riding up to the top by cable car and cogwheel train or hiking up to its 2,132 ft summit.
