Bank on Having a Great Time
For collectors of interesting foreign notes and coins Basel may just be the place to go between February the 2nd and 4th.
This is the time when the World Money Fair is held in the Swiss town, with the Estrel Convention Centre playing host to a vast array of cash brought by collectors all over the world, including unusual, out of circulation and commemorative currency.
Visitors have a chance to buy, swap and browse through the fair, for which no currency of any kind is charged for entry.
Apart from the fair, visitors to Basle have a variety of things to see and do.
There is boating on the Rhine, a wide range of museums, the Roman ruins at August Raurica, a few miles out of town and a number of green open spaces.
Located close to the German border, it is possible to make excursions north into Bavaria, with the Black Forest close by.
