Those looking for a good party in Switzerland may find just the thing in the capital, Berne, where the Fasnacht takes place from February 7th to the 9th.

Berne's premier party marks the end of winter with this three day extravaganza which takes place immediately after Ash Wednesday, with a bear (not real) released into the streets during the Thursday carnival, a children's carnival on the Friday and a main procession on the Saturday with dozens of floats.

All this is accompanied by big crowds, colourful costumes, music and partying, all of which goes on well into the night.
