Places to Eat in Geneva

Restaurant du Parc des Eaux-Vives
This restaurant is an exclusive restaurant used by a discerning clientele.  The restaurant has 2 Michelin Stars to its credit and is very expensive, however it is a luxury worth experiencing.

L'Wchalote
This restaurant is very popular with locals and highflying business types.  It offers a fine menu and excellent wine list with a comfortable but discreet atmosphere.

Jecks
The owner of this fine establishment is originally from Singapore and the menu offers a modern take on Asian food.

Sunset
This is a cozy café type establishment, which is frequented by many students from the nearby University.  Popular for good healthy meals at reasonable prices.

Nightlife in Geneva

Cactus Club 3
This is a rhythm and blues club with an excellent bar and great cocktails.  All taking place underground with an atmosphere to match.  It is close to local transport.

Le Petit Palace
This is a very popular club with the locals and situated in the old town area.  It is large and often crowded and a variety of music is played until the early hours of the morning.

Café Sud
This bar is for customers and who enjoy a cool atmosphere with a mixture of different people, all out basically for a good time.  There is an army barracks situated not to far from this bar; therefore it is also popular with the soldiers too.

Things to do in Geneva

There are some great shopping areas in Geneva Centre around the streets of Marche and Croix D'Ordhte. 

There is also a great flea market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays around the Plaine de Plainpalais, which is also a good place for bars and restaurants.

Places Outside Town

The town of Gruyere is a short train ride from the city.  The famous cheese is cultivated here along with a very rich cream, which is extremely popular with the locals.  This alpine village is also home to the Giger Museum.

Getting From Geneva Airport

Train:  The main train station is about ½ a kilometre from the main terminal building and trains run regularly from the airport to the Cornavin train station in Geneva Centre.

Bus: Buses run frequently from the airport to Geneva Centre, every ten minutes.  Trolley buses and regular buses run until midnight and a variation of tickets can be bought at the ticket machine, depending on how much further than the centre you wish to travel.

Taxi: Taxi's queue outside the main terminal building and charge between about 40 to 50 Swiss Francs, to the City Centre.

Airport Transfers: There is an airport transfer system that operates from the airport to the city centre and most of the main ski resorts.  This is usually a pre-booked service although details from the information office will help you locate arrange a transfer on arrival.
