No Crampon Their Style

No crampon their style Winter sports enthusiasts who like to watch the experts in action can do so in southern Switzerland in February with the North Face Ice Climbing World Championship.

The masters of ice axes, ropes and crampons hit the sheer ice in the glacier village of Saas-Fee, where a covered car park is transformed every year to create the ultimate challenge for the world's best climbers.

Spectators can watch the climbers at various levels, thanks to the spiral ramps in the car park, which is actually located underground.

The event runs from February 1st to the 3rd.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area can also enjoy a wide range of winter activities themselves, including skiing on the glacier, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and winter hiking, with ski-lifts on hand to take people up to the slopes.

Needless to say, the scenery is as grand as might be expected and the village typically charming, not least with all the cars hidden underground.
