On the Cresta of a Run

On the Cresta of a run For the ultimate in white-knuckle winter sports, visitors to St Moritz can have a go at tobogganing on the infamous Cresta Run anytime in the winter season between December and March.

Run by the St Moritz Club, the run was first completed in 1885 and has inclines of up to one in two, with the record for descending the full distance, three quarters of a mile with a 514 foot drop, being 50.9 seconds, according to the club.

Non-members are allowed to have a go at this daring and somewhat terrifying route, though beginners will have to start at the Junction, short of the top.

Apart from the Cresta run, visitors to St Mortitz staying in cheap hotels in the resort can enjoy a range of winter sports from skiing to snowboarding, with everyone from beginners to experts catered for.

St Moritz also has plenty of nightlife and restaurants to provide off-piste entertainment in the evenings.
