Splitting Sides in Switzerland
Travellers who already have their cheap hotel in Switzerland booked for the beginning of December can look forward to the Montreux Festival du Rire, or comedy festival.
Taking place on the northern shore of Lake Geneva, this event regularly attracts top comedians and will be celebrating its 18th year in 2007.
The official reception of the event will be held on December 4th with singer, imitator, comic and ventriloquist Yann Lambiel acting as master of ceremonies.
Festivities will then continue every day until December 9th, when the event will be brought to a close by the Chiche Capon cabaret, a show that has been compared to Monty Python in the past.
Over its 17 years so far the Montreux comedy festival has hosted more than 580 artists and welcomed around 106,500 spectators.
The shows that make up the event take place in a number of destinations around Montreux, including the Stravinski Auditorium, the Theatre of Vevey and the Guinguette Space.
