Swiss Rolling in the Aisles
For a winter holiday with a difference, ski enthusiasts may consider heading to the Swiss town of Arosa, where the Arosa Humour Festival is taking place from December 8th to the 17th.
Skiers can come down from the slopes as night draws in and enjoy a wide range of stand-up artists from the famous Dieter Nuhr and Olli Dittrich to various new acts.
The fun continues right into the early hours with music and cabaret.
Apart from the comedy, Arosa offers a range of winter sports facilities and plenty of accommodation options, including cheap hotels.
Set in the mountain-ringed Schanfigger valley, Arosa has a wide range of skiing and snowboarding routes, plus numerous cafes and bars to serve the hungry and thirsty when they leave the slopes.
The town is in the east of the country, 165 km from Zurich by train.
