The Going is a Little Icy

For those who like their racing a bit different, there is an alternative to heading to Wolverhampton's all-weather track in the Swiss resort of St Moritz.

Held on February the 4th, 11th and 18th, the White Turf meeting is a top winter event which has attracted thousands to see horses racing across the frozen lake of St Moritz since 1907.

Among the races are the Skikjoring event, where horses tow riders on skis across the icy course, while off the course there are many tents and exhibitions to provide extra enetertainment.

Organisers have announced that as this is the centenary year of the event, three Swiss sports personalities will be invited to race reindeer in the Skikjoring race.

St Moritz has plenty more between races to entertain and amuse visitors staying in cheap hotels in the town.

As a top ski resort, it offers skiing, snowboarding and beautiful Alpine scenery, not to mention plenty of off-piste entertainment, food and drink.
