Dive into Marriage
Lots of people like to get married in unusual ways and in unconventional locations these days, but for qualified divers, the Thai island of Ko Kradan near Trang off Thailand's south coast offers something that will have the bride and groom truly bubbling.
Held between February 13th to the 15th – although Valentine's day is an obviously choice date – underwater weddings have been taking place at Trang for a decade, including a world record largest underwater wedding ever in 2000, according to the Underwater Weddings website.
The ceremony is carried out in traditional Thai Buddhist style, with couples also experiencing the beauty of coral, azure, warm water and an audience of tropical fish, as brightly attired as any wedding guest.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area may wish to go the whole hog (or fish) and honeymoon there as well, with the island also offering beautiful white beaches, canoeing and motorised boat trips.
