Make an Impact

Make an impact Tennis fans who fancy being culture vultures for a while can combine these two different activities by heading to Bangkok in September.

Held from September the 24th to 30th, the Thailand Open tennis tournament takes place at the IMPACT arena and features many of the top male players from around the world.

Last year the tournament, contested on a hard indoor surface, was won by American James Blake, who defeated top Croatian player Ivan Ljubicic in the final.

Other top players to feature included Marat Safin, Juan Carlos Ferrero and of course British stars Tim Henman and Andy Murray.

Murray and his brother Jamie, this year's Wimbledon mixed-doubles champion, were the finalists in the doubles tournament.

Fans staying in cheap hotels can mix tennis with the vibe and culture of one of the world's most fascinating and exotic cities.

With plenty of temples, rituals, local crafts and cuisine to sample, Bangkok will serve an ace offering of life-enhancing experiences.
