Instanbul... or Instancow
Cows of art will be par for the course at a unique cultural event in Instanbul this August, at which dozens of brightly decorated cows will be on display for a period of weeks.
Rest assured, the painted cows are not real, rather life-size fibreglass replicas that are painted by local artists, community members and a handful of celebrities.
Launched in 1998 by Swiss designer Walter Knapp the event seeks to throw the spotlight on public, community art in a fun, vibrant style, milking local creative talent in the process. Visitors can expect all manner of unique colourful creations inspired by a sense of design and fun.
Instanbul will be littered with these decorative cows for 12 weeks from August 1st onwards, giving visitors something artistic and slightly less than usual to look out for.
A selection of cheap hotels are in the area for visitors to stay at, allowing you to set up camp before exploring Instanbul in all its cow glory.
