Dubai to Boast Brand New City

Dubai to boast brand new city Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels in Dubai will soon have a brand new location to add to their travel itinerary.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of the emirate of Dubai, unveiled plans for an entire city to be built in the desert.

The shiny new metropolis will cover more than 800 million square feet and come at a cost of around $60 billion (£30.6 billion).

It will include a range of new tourist landmarks and more landscaped parkland than can be found in London and New York combined.

World renowned architect Eric Kuhne, who will work on the new city, said: "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed should be applauded for his commitment to creating a new Dubai which will redefine the quality of civic life for all the citizens and guests of the Arabian Gulf.

"His vision can be compared to that of Shah Abbas I who created Nisf-e-Jahan, the elegant 16th century capital of Persia whose parks, gardens and libraries reflected the heavens."

The city will boast attractions including museums, parks and zoological gardens, as well as plenty of hotels.
