Fine Art and Antiques in Dubai

As one of the world's most modern and rapidly expanding cities, Dubai may not ordinarily be associated with antiques and fine art, but that will change in December as collectors and art lovers from all over the world visit the emirate.

The inaugural Dubai International Fine Art and Antiques Fair will be held at the city's convention and exhibition centre between December 12th and December 15th.

According to the organisers of the fair, the use of this high-profile venue will ensure that the event attracts wide interest and moves closer to the status of the major art and antique fairs held in Europe and the USA.

The world's most discerning collectors, curators and academics are expected to attend the show.

And they had better bring their chequebooks with them, as exhibits are expected to fetch up to $5 million (£2.45 million).

Dubai is home to one of the world's most famous and recognisable hotels - the Burj al Arab, which is designed to resemble a billowing sail. Holidaymakers need not worry, however, as the city also offers a number of cheap hotel options.
