Lee Westwood Confirmed to Play Dubai Desert Classic
Customers booking cheap hotels in Dubai will be able to watch European number one Lee Westwood compete in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February.
The Englishman will play at the Emirates Golf Club, the Middle East's first grass course, from February 3rd until 7th.
Westwood regained his number one title after winning the Dubai World Championship recently.
Last year, Westwood had a great run, becoming fourth in the world after two wins and 13 top ten finishes. Visitors to the competition may be looking at a champion when he steps on the grass.
"It's a big event which attracts the world's leading players each year," said Westwood, who will compete against players including Tom Watson and 2009 champion Rory McIlroy.
Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and chief executive of 'golf in DUBAi', the promoters and organisers of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, said: "Lee is a wonderful player, well respected all over the world. He has that charismatic appeal which lights up any tournament. It's indeed an honour to have him in the field."
