New Building 'will Make Dubai Stand Out'

New building 'will make Dubai stand out' The presence of the world's tallest building in Dubai will help the destination to distinguish itself from other travel hotspots in the Middle East, according to Lonely Planet.

Officially opened this week, Burj Dubai stands at a height of over 800 metres and is set to become one of the destination's leading attractions.

Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, said the building is another unique element that could encourage people to visit Dubai.

He offered the example of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur as a similar development that has helped to "put a place on the map".

Mr Hall also highlighted the importance of cheap hotels in Dubai for the tourism industry, saying: "There's a huge number of hotel rooms available there at quite a high standard.

"Given that we've been reading a little bit about some sort of economic issues in the emirate and whether the situation is going to get any better is unclear, it could be quite a good year to go to snag a bargain there."
