An Amble in the Lakes
Visitors to the Lake District in summer may find themselves dodging the odd shower (they have to get all that water from somewhere), but the village of Ambleside offers a weather-proof attraction in the Ambleside Summer Flower Show & Craft Fair, which takes place inside several large marquee tents.
Featuring a wide range of horticultural delights for would-be Charlie Dimmocks and Alan Tichmarshs, the event includes competitions, stalls, gardening equipment and plenty of edible items for the hungry gardener to enjoy.
In addition to the show, Ambleside has a wide range of attractions for visitors.
These include the Homes of Football exhibition, Galava Roman Fort and the famous Bridge House, which spans the waters of Stock Beck.
Ambleside is located at the north end of Windermere, England's largest lake, with regular boat trips and watersports available, while it also lies close to many other key Lake District attractions, such as Wordsworth's homes at Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage in Grasmere and the rugged Langdale Pikes.
