Free drop-in sessions to be held on July 17th will give visitors the chance to find out details about any objects they may have unearthed while out walking or in their garden.

At midday on the same day, there will be a lecture held at Barley Hall called Pinning it on the Past: Costume Jewellery Through the Ages, for which booking is essential.

These events are part of National Archaeology Week in York, which will run from July 12th to 20th.

To celebrate this occasion, Barley Hall and DIG – a tourist attraction that invites visitors to get their hands dirty and get involved in archaeological pursuits – will be offering free entry to all children younger than 16.

Barley Hall is a medieval townhouse that has been decorated in a 15th century style and was once home to the priors of Nostell and the mayor of York.
