Battle of the Underdogs Goes to Wembley
Four teams for whom reaching the FA Cup final would have been a distant dream at the beginning of the season Portsmouth, West Bromwich Albion, Barnsley and Cardiff City will now be eyeing the famous trophy with a realistic chance of lifting it in May.
In an FA Cup competition that has seen giants being slain left, right and centre, these four sides have so far emerged victorious and will play their semi-finals on April 5th and 6th.
May 17th will be the date that football fans staying in cheap hotels in London will be looking forward to, when either West Brom or Portsmouth face either Barnsley or Cardiff.
Having already knocked out Premier League hotshots Chelsea and Liverpool, Barnsley will be looking at their match against Cardiff, who sit five places ahead of them in the Championship, with optimism.
The side from Wales have their own share of experience against top-flight opposition, however, having knocked out Middlesbrough in the sixth round.
Portsmouth eliminated Manchester United to book their place in the semi-final, while West Brom scored five goals in both of their previous FA Cup rounds against Bristol Rovers and Coventry City.
Fans who make it to the FA Cup final will enjoy a trip to the famous Wembley Stadium, which reopened in March 2007 following its multimillion pound redevelopment.
