Birmingham Museum Explores the Family

Birmingham Museum explores the family People planning stays in cheap hotels in Birmingham over the coming months can visit a new exhibition at Birmingham Museum exploring the theme of parenthood and family life.

Nature, Nurture and Cocoon opened on March 14th and will be on display until June 28th in the new Community gallery at Birmingham Museum.

The exhibition features a number of pieces of handmade jewellery and abstract objects that in various ways symbolise family experiences, relationships and stories.

Families at St Thomas' children's centre created some of the objects in the display by working with jewellery designer and maker Rita Patel.

Alongside the objects that were created by the family groups, the exhibition features a number of photographs taken during the workshops led by Ms Patel.

One of the permanent exhibitions at Birmingham Museum is In Touch, an interactive display area where visitors can engage with a variety of objects through sound, touch and light.

Stepping inside a 17th century painting and squeezing into a chair in the shape of a corset from the 1800s are among the activities on offer in the gallery.
