Birmingham Symphony Hall to Celebrate Spring

Birmingham Symphony Hall to celebrate spring The Birmingham Symphony Hall will celebrate the official beginning of spring on April 1st by presenting what it describes as "a delightfully tuneful programme".

Classical music lovers staying in cheap hotels in Birmingham will be treated to a selection of works ranging from outright classics to pieces that are recognisable but sometimes difficult to name.

Holst's The Perfect Fool will feature on the programme, along with Delius' On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring, Sullivan's Overture di Ballo, Elgar's Chanon de Nuit and other pieces.

John Wilson will take on conducting duties for the performance, while viola player Lawrence Power will join the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to give the renditions.

People who are able to make it to the venue at 13:15, an hour before the beginning of the concert, can hear an on-stage interview which Mr Wilson will give to Christopher Morley of the Birmingham Post.

On April 24th, the Birmingham Symphony Hall will host a performance by Elvis Costello with the Brodsky String Quartet.
